Welcome to the Wolcott Public Schools!
Currently servicing 3,000 students, we operate three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.
Each elementary school -- Alcott, Frisbie, and Wakelee - enroll between 425-525 K-5 students. They are geographically districted and offer the same curriculum and instructional practices. Alcott School, which currently operates under a Higher Order Thinking (H.O.T.) School grant, strives to infuse the arts throughout the curriculum. All schools are responsible for the same curriculum and student achievements.
Tyrrell Middle School spans grades 6, 7, and 8 and services about 785 students. Each grade level is divided into two teams, and the school offers a complete compliment of courses, including Spanish.
Wolcott High School has approximately 880 students and has a comprehensive college prep curriculum, as well as AP/UCONN Co-op courses, an Alternative School at a off-campus location, special education classes, and a battery of vocational offerings.
The school district's primary focus is student learning. We strive to have all students acquire the skills necessary to become life long learners, continue their education in the areas of their choice, and become informed contributing citizens in our democracy. Students in the Wolcott School system consistently score at the top of their economic reference group and above the state averages.
Wolcott Public Schools also offers a complete array of extracurricular activities and interscholastic sports. The buildings recently have been renovated and are now wired for voice, data, and cable in state-of-the-art facilities.
Wolcott Public Schools employs 238 teachers and about 400 additional full- and part-time employees. The administrators, faculty, and staff are dedicated professionals, who partake in an ongoing professional development program designed to improve skills and expand abilities.
