Mrs. Elizabeth Buzzelli is the school counselor for students whose last names begin with the letters A through K.  She attended the University of Connecticut and received her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Relations/Family Services.  She then went on to earn her Masters of Science degree in School Counseling at Southern Connecticut State University.  Mrs. Buzzelli enjoys cooking, interior decorating, hiking, biking and spending time with her husband, Ron, and cat, Bobby.

Mrs. Meghan Azzara is the school counselor for students whose last names begin with letters L through Z. She attended Duquesne University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education. She then went on to earn her Masters of Education degree in School Counseling at Western Connecticut State University.  She taught special education for 11 years prior to shifting into the role of school counselor. Mrs. Azzara enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family including her husband, Steve, and two children, Mikey and Mia.


According to the American School Counselor Association, middle school students are characterized by rapid physical growth, curiosity about their world and an emerging self-identity. Through a comprehensive developmental school counseling program, counselors work as a team member with school staff, parents and the community to create a caring, supportive climate and atmosphere whereby young adolescents can achieve academic success.

Naviance Succeed 

Naviance is a college and career readiness platform that helps connect academic achievement to post-secondary goals. Every student at Tyrrell Middle School will receive his or her own Naviance account in grade 6. They will have access to this account through grade 12. School counselors visit classrooms at the beginning of each school year to help students set up their new accounts.
