Principal’s Message

1/12/2012

One of Wolcott High School’s advisory groups put up a big stocking and posters around the school, asking if anyone would like to write a letter to the troops for the holidays.  I received approximately 23 letters in the stocking.    They have been mailed off and hopefully will make some of our soldiers happy!  Ellie, Special Ed Department.

The Wolcott High School Senior class collected and donated almost $200 to give to the needy family over the holidays. Great Job

Our Community Service Club worked at the Bristol Soup Kitchen on Sunday.  We cook, serve, and clean for a few hundred needy (hungry) people.

The guidance department met with all 9th, 10th & 11th grade students this month. The dept. went over all testing results with the students so they understand their results. For the 9th graders it was the EXPLORE results & for the 10th & 11th it was their PSAT results. In addition, we are hosting a parent night on Jan. 17th to go over results with parents. We will have two sessions for each group. We will start at 6pm & end at 8pm. Lastly the guidance dept, along with our career center coordinator will be hosting a career day on April 26th. This will be for all grades 9-12 & will run for the first four sessions of the day.

12/2/11

On December 2nd, forty-seven (47) members of Wolcott High’s DECA Chapter attended the 2011 DECA Leadership Conference. Only one other Connecticut high school chapter had more of its members in attendance. All students attended three workshops that proved to be both mentally and physically engaging. The presentations centered on a variety of topics including professional conduct, collaboration, self-esteem and body language.

While at the conference, which was held at the Aqua Turf, each Connecticut chapter was challenged to raise $500 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. DECA is a national association of 185,000 marketing students whose goal is to improve education and career opportunities for students interested in marketing, management and entrepreneurship.
