PTO Events 08-09

Event Descriptions

Family Fun Night – 2008 brought about our first Frisbie duck races.  A back to school social spearheaded by the teachers and help from the PTO was held on September 11th at Peterson Park.  Music, games, and fun were the main events of the night.

Scholastic Book Fair – This event is held twice a year, once in the fall & again in the spring.  Books are set up in the library for purchase and the students have a week to browse the displays and make their selections.  Event date: Week of Sept 15th.

Halloween Party -  Is held on the Friday night before Halloween.  Chairperson is responsible for coordinating volunteers, assessing all supplies & decorations, bagging candy, and organizing refreshments.  Volunteers are needed to help decorate the school before the event & take down all decorations at the conclusion that evening and oversee station areas like games, refreshments, and crafts.  Event date:  Friday, Oct 24th

Cookies & Stories with Santa – This event is held in December and is a coordinated effort with our teachers from RIEB (Reading is Everybody’s Business).  Readers are brought in and set up in various rooms.  Children & their parents are assigned to a reading room where a guest reader shares a holiday story.  Cookies & milk are served as refreshments in the café where pictures can be taken with Santa.   A PTO raffle table is also set up.  Event date: Dec 10th thru Dec 12th

Santa Shop -  This event is held in early December.   Gift items are displayed in the library where children are allowed to shop for holiday gifts for their immediate family members.  Event date: Thursday, Dec 11th

Easter Egg Hunt – Will be held in the spring.  Each student receives a plastic egg, filling with a Frisbie school store coupon.  Eggs are labeled with each child’s name and hidden in their classroom while the students are at lunch.  Date of the event to be determined.  Coupon redemption date also to be determined.

Fifth Grade Dinner – Held in June.  Parents of fifth graders traditionally coordinate this event.   Efforts include dinner, a yearbook, a fun facts sheet, and in previous years a slide show.   Date of event to be determined.
