Dear Parents & Guardians,
Beginning March 8, 2011, Wolcott students in Grades 3-8 will participate in the Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) and students in Grade 10 will participate in the Connecticut Academic Performance Tests (CAPT) program. The CMT and CAPT were developed with the help of Connecticut educators and serves to guide education in Connecticut. The testing will occur over a three week period in the month of March. You can help your child be successful on the CMT and CAPT by ensuring your child attends school regularly, receives a good night's sleep, eats a nutritious breakfast and maintains a positive attitude about the assessments. The results of the CMT and CAPT are reported to schools and to parents/guardians. These results will allow you and your child's teacher(s) to identify academic strengths and weaknesses and to better plan instruction to support your child.
Wolcott High School was featured on the NBC 30 CT News "Making the Grade" segment. NBC 30 contacted CT Virtual Learning about schools that offer students the opportunity to take online courses. The Director of CT Virtual Learning chose Wolcott High School because for three years, we have been utilizing the program as an alternative way for students to earn credits. Brad Drazen came to the high school on December 2, 2010 to film the Virtual Classroom and interview the Director of CT Virtual Learning as well as Wolcott High School students currently taking online courses.
