On October 24th, twelve students from Tyrrell Middle School participated in the Connecticut American Choral Director Association’s Honor Choir at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music. These students joined singers from around the state to for a choir of 120. They had the pleasure of working with Francisco J. Nunez, a world renowned conductor and the Artistic Director and Founder of the Young People's Chorus of New York City and Conductor of the University Glee Club of New York City. The Tyrrell students prepared the music with Mrs. Jones during after school rehearsals in September and October, and when they arrived at the Hartt School, began intensive rehearsals. They rehearsed for 5.5 hours on Saturday, and they attended the President’s concert which featured two famous ensembles: Khorikos and the Whiffenpoofs of Yale. At the end of the day, the students performed in a wonderful concert, which received two standing ovations. All students involved did an excellent job performing, as well as representing the Wolcott Public School System and Tyrrell Middle School.
